The path to responsible development

At First Wind, we understand it takes more than just a steady breeze for a wind farm to be successful, which is why we take a scientific approach to exploring the role of a wind farm in each community. This multi-step process includes meteorological wind measurement, sound modeling, environmental studies, tower placement analysis, and more. Our goal at the Oakfield Wind project is to provide permitting authorities with the in-depth information required to help ensure compliance with standards and maximize the benefits to the local community.

Ongoing studies at Oakfield:
First Wind is in the process of conducting a wide range of studies to ensure compliance with Maine DEP standards. First Wind submitted the site location application for the Oakfield Project on April 8th, 2009 to Maine DEP.
