While there are plenty of places in Maine where the winds blow strong and steady, only a few have the fortunate combination of geographical and man-made factors that come together to create a natural fit for a wind farm project. The Oakfield Wind project area is one of these places.

The developer of Oakfield Wind, First Wind, has analyzed the area’s wind resource, met with Oakfield town officials, and established partnerships with landowners to lease land for the wind turbines and transmission line right-of-ways. First Wind is proud to be working with the people of Maine to bring clean, responsible wind development to the area, helping build a stronger economic foundation for the community while enhancing energy independence throughout the region.
